Downtown Music Studios is a new studio recording facility located in the SoHo neighborhood of Lower Manhattan. Owned and operated by Downtown Music, the studios are principally utilized by songwriters and recording artists associated with Downtown Music Publishing and the Downtown labels.
The studios, designed by Martin Pilchner of industry leading Pilchner-Schoustal International feature a forward thinking emphasis on higher fidelity recordings and modern ergonomics while offering writers, producers and recording artists an optimal creative atmosphere.
Studio A (“The Mercer Room”) represents a new and inventive approach to recording and mixing music. It features a robust selection of the highest quality outboard equipment arraigned in an efficient and ergonomic fashion. The spacious room features detailed impartial acoustics and warm natural light. Custom Canadian Maple diffusers and flutter free panels shoulder neutral grey and brown fabric to combine superior function and aesthetic comfort. The studio is driven by a ProTools HD 6 system with 40 channels of I/O partnered with an autonomous Logic/Apogee Symphony system.
Studio B (“The Broadway Room”) was designed to inspire the creative process. Fashioned in a Balinese motif with hand-carved woodwork imported from Thailand, organic shapes and ambient lighting make this room truly unique. Bolstered by uncompromising acoustics and ergonomics the room features equipment from GML, Neve, Chandler LTD and others. Ease of workflow and renowned studio decorator Jacklyn Faust’s exotic interior design make this recording space the ideal environment for crafting music.
